The HonorBound Tournament is always one of the highlights of the CBAF season and this year was no exception. Over 50 anglers were in attendance at the Friday evening check-in. They were treated to a great meal provided by the host church, Sunset Christian Fellowship. Randy Greer, the HonorBound Director for the Northern California Nevada District Council of the Assemblies of God was the special guest speaker…. Everyone enjoyed his humorous recollections of his days as a professional baseball player. Pastor Randy has been a special friend and supporter of this event and the ministry of the CBAF. The raffle prizes, complements of a number of great supporters, were worth the price of admission. “There is no tournament that gives away more prizes than the HonorBound event”, said CBAF President, Paul Baker. We were privileged to have some regular supporters in attendance including Mark Inman of Lefty’s Lures, Norval Chan of Essox Rods, and Michael Baggett who also donated prizes from Bayside Church. It was simply a great evening.
Saturday morning everyone gathered for final instructions from CBAF Vice President and Tournament Director, Dave Tencati, the Nation Anthem by Mike Baker, and then the Blast off.
When the fishermen started to check in the message was the same. “It was a tough bite out there today”. Only Eleven teams weighed a limit and there were several teams with zero to 2-3 fish bags.
Third place went to the father-son team of Brian and Nathanael Sinclair with an 11.24 lbs limit. They also won some of the prizes that were handed out. It was exciting to see Nathanael smile every time their name was called.. Coming in second place was Dick Gold and Steve Eason with five fish for 11.65 lbs. and the First place team was another father son team. Lou and Nick Turold tipped the scale at 12.60 lbs. The had five solid fish but the Big fish was brought in by Dewey Hutson and his grandson Trevor Lee. Big fish were hard to come by this year but their big fish weighed 3.53 lbs.
This year we saw a record number new faces. We love to see that. It was also great to see so family teams. “That’s what it’s all about, providing an opportunity for father/daughter, father son, husband and wife to spend some time together. Dave Tencati said.
