“It’s not raining”. We heard that a lot. Those who were at CBAF Bass Camp last year know what they meant. This year rain, wind and hail dominated earlier in the week but by Friday the storm had moved on and Saturday morning fifty kids ages 8-13 started lining up at the check station anxious for the camp to begin. After getting checked into their tents and a time of devotions and prayer with the team leader the workshops were soon underway. The campers learned how worms, grubs, tubes and jigs react under water, a hands-on exercise on how to build a chatter-bait, as well as boating safety and Fish and Game regulations. There were workshops on knot tying and a casting contest. The entire CBAF team did an awesome job and the kids were really engaged in the process. Some of the parents who watched were amazed at all the things the kids were learning. They wanted to play too!
Lunch and a trip to the Lake Collins Resort store for ice cream, complements of the management of Collins Lake, was next on the agenda. Blessings on Lincoln and his entire crew, they are an incredible partner in this outreach.
Pastor Jerrod provided the message for our camp fire service and none of us will hear the story of Jonah again without thinking of that night. There was lots of singing around the campfire too.
Sunday morning the kids were matched up with their “Pros” for the day on the lake. We were so blessed to have 35 pros generously donate their time and boats. One parent said she just stood there and cried as she saw “all those kids in those beautiful boats as they were coming out of the water”. All of you guys deserve a big CBAF “Thank You” for giving of your time and experience. God Bless you!
We have had so many people express their appreciation for the camp and all that it means. I just pass that along to all of you who had a part. To God be all the glory.
Thanks to all of you who made this possible –
Financial Supporters – CBAF Staff – Parents and Pros.
We could not have done it without you. God Bless you!
